I was told the other day by a person who works in a book store in Dublin, to “Broaden my horizons” when it comes to reading / collecting books. This person would not know Hunter S. Thompson from Bob the builder. (No offence Bob)
Yes, I do live in my small little world of books and such like, but it’s not so small where I refuse to lay my hands on anything other that a Hunter S. Thompson book. I also own and have read some Beat Generation books. OH or maybe this is not far enough away from HST, for the patronising, fop, book store, coffee jockey.
What about Steven King? I recently read The Mist, is that far enough away for ya? I also read Mike Farrell’s biography not long ago and I enjoyed that too. Christ, those who know me will not be surprised to hear, that in a book drought I have been known to read the back of a bleach bottle while sitting on the bog (that’s the toilet for my non Irish readers)
My friend JR has the biggest Hunter S. Thompson book collection I have ever seen and he reads 3 books a week, books of all types.
So hear this you ludicrous popinjay, drive a wedge in between your narrow mind and widen it a bit then get back to me.
