According to Variety.com Johnny Depp’s production company “Infinitum Nihil” is to begin filming an adaptation Hunter’s “Rum Diary” next March. At least that’s what I can gather from the article. Here is an excerpt..
Depp will star in March as gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson in “The Rum Diary,” an adaptation of the Thompson book that Infinitum Nihil is producing with GK Films, with King’s company financing the picture. Bruce Robinson is directing his script. It’s Depp’s second turn in a Thompson tale; he starred in “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”
You can read the full article here http://www.variety.com/VR1117996716.html It was posted on December 2nd so the information is pretty recent. Personally I’ll believe it when I see it but will be happy if it does happen that soon.
We’ll have to keep our fingers crossed and hope things go according to plan.
I’m a sceptic; HST was 21 when writing the rum diary right? What’s up with choosing Johnny Depp for the role then? More kids into the scene, now! Anyway, it’ll be good to see, and Johnny Depp is pretty decent to say the least
It’s definitely happening guys, it’s in production now and will be released next year. Depp has been attached to it for about 5 years but has upped the ante. More details here:
