  1. Good advice. Although that should be the obvious reasoning for anyone putting a lot of money into anything. Fraudulent sellers capitalize on emotions and the buyers reluctance to resist what they believe might be a bargain. And there’s nothing better than a seller who’s “willing to take a chance”. So what if it’s not real after all? It looks real, might be real, and then this is a great deal.

I seriously doubt there’s anyone selling a signed HST book, or any other kind of collectible for that matter, who’s completely unaware of its value. Sure there are “cheap” books if you’re lucky, but see that as an exception to the rule.

And as much as I understand the joy of owning a collectible, don’t let it go out of hand. In the end, it should come down to what’s in the book that matters most.

(I own a copy of the special edition of Curse of Lono, but the book itself, without the autographs, is still a great book. It was still in the factory wrapping when I bought, which I broke. Because I’m of the opinion that books should be read. Buy another copy? No, what use is it to me then? Copies are not as well done as this one. And it’s quite cool, yet nerdy, to see the signed page. It was a nice feeling. But I wouldn’t give anything to have gotten it. For me, a low dollar was the key when shipping from USA to Europe).

  2. There’s a couple different sellers at ‘THAT” online auction place with waaaaaaay tooooooo many “signed” (yeah right) HST books. BEWARE…

  3. I have a roommate who has a copy of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas; hard library copy; as well as Custom quote along with it… Original Signed Hunter S Thompson book… They are out there people.
