Just an update on a publishing date for “The Mutineer, Rants, Ravings, and Missives from the Mountaintop” 1977-2005. Fear & Loathing letters volume 3. The new date for release is late September early October 2009. Although as we know the thought would be a fine thing.
Also while I’m here, for all the fine folks living in Ireland, don’t forget Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” scroll will be on view in UCD here in Dublin from Wednesday.
By the time some of these new HST books are released, I’ll be too senile to read them or remember why I wanted to read them in the first place…ooops, it may already be too late….nevermind…
I can’t wait for the book… I wish I was in a civilised country where they’d let me see the scroll, too. That’d be schweet.
Who said that? HUH?
I’d say there is a good chance this year. One of the reasons for the delay is that the estate wanted the archives taken care of first – Johnny Depp has solved that little problem. Also they wanted some space between Hunter’s death and the publication. Again that looks to no longer be an issue. Doug Brinkley has told various people that 2009 is the year. Lets hope so.
Oh and just a little note on the Kerouac scrolls. I came across this on the scrolls website:
“Kerouac completed the novel in twenty days of rapid, continuous typing, fuelled chiefly by caffeine.”
Caffeine eh? Is that what Benzedrine is being called now?
Revisionist bullshit. That would be like saying that Fear and Loathing was largely fuelled by grapefruit.
Any idea when the Fear and Loathing at Rolling Stone book is due out?
Man, you get to see the scroll??? Take pics.
Dave, by all accounts “Fear and Loathing at Rolling Stone is due for release in December 2009. But as usual this date is subject to change.
