As I’m sure we all know Johnny Depp is not stuck for a few quid, after all he did buy a private island for himself and his family. The island is called Little Hall’s Pond Cay. According to Vanity Fair’s July issue (on the stands June 9th) on the island there are 6 beaches, each with a different name. The beach I’m interested in is the one called “Gonzo Beach” complete with glass tables with Hunter’s face engraved on the table tops.
Johnny invited Douglas Brinkley (who is contributing editor for Vanity Fair, and for anyone that sleeps under a rock was a good friend of Hunter S) to take take a trip on his 156 foot steam powered yacht to the island for an interview and some A-list chit-chat, along with some of Depp’s pals to do a bit of snorkeling, fishing and whatever else one does on ones own island.
Depp opens up to Brinkley, talking about everything form movie rolls to hobbies. “You’ve got all-access,” Depp told Brinkley, “Ask me about anything you want.” Music to a journalists ears I’d say.
Depp’s yacht is called Vajoliroja which is an anagram of his wife’s, kids and his own name. And naturally sports the Jolly Roger.
As far as I know the July issue of Vanity Fair will be on the stands in the US from June 9.
