Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Other American Stories. This is a Modern Library edition published in 1996. Modern Library is a division of Random House.

The Proud Highway. Fear and Loathing Letters volume 1 1955-1967. Published by Villard [A division of Random House] in 1997. 14 editions published between 1997 and 2005 in English and French.

Mistah Leary He Dead. Published in 1997 by  X-Ray Books. A Hand Sewn, hand printed chap-book. 300 copies

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Movie tie-in Modern Library edition published 1998.  In it there is 3 extra stories, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas jacket copy, Strange Rumblings in Aztlan, and kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved.

Hell’s Angels. A Modern Library edition published in 1999, with a new introduction by Douglas Brinkley.

Fear and Loathing in America. Fear and Loathing Letters volume 2 1968-1976. US edition published by Simon & Schuster in 2000. 17 editions published between 2000 and 2008 in English and Dutch.

The Fear and Loathing Letters, Proud Highway and Fear Loathing in America Special edition boxed sets. Published in 2000 The publisher Ed Smith was kind enough to email me some information about these gems. He told me Richard Smart of Old English Bindery did most of the design work on the boxes and the chimises. They did a total of 65 sets, 15 of which were the “Red Sets” published in a red slipcase, and signed by Hunter. And 50 “Black Sets” published in a black slipcase, and signed by Hunter.

X-Ray Number 8 published by Johnny Brewton of the X-Ray Book Co in 2001. There was 126 published, 100 signed and numbered and 26 signed and lettered. This one has a few contributers including a broadside from Hunter S. Thompson.

Kingdom Of Fear. The US edition was published by Simon & Schuster in 2003. 12 editions published between 2003 and 2007 in 4 languages (to be confirmed) including English, German, Finnish, Russian.

Hey Rube. The US edition was published by Simon & Schuster in 2004. 7 editions published between 2004 and 2008 in 3 languages including English, German, French.

Fire in the Nuts. Published by Hunter S. Thompson, Ralph Steadman, Joe Petro III and Walt Bartholomew . A total of 176 copies were made. 26 lettered copies in a box with a Ralph Steadman print, and 150 numbered copies.


Happy Birthday Jack Nicholson. Published by Penguin Books in 2005. A small thin book that was published to celebrate Penguin’s 70th anniversary. It contains excerpts from Kingdom Of Fear.

Gonzo. A book of photographs with an introduction by Johnny Depp. Published by Ammo Books in 2006. Firstly published in a limited edition of 3000

Taschen Curse of Lono 2007 reprint, this is identical to the 2005 reprint. Since the 2005 reprint is harder to get the best way to tell them apart is the ISBN numbers, so to keep it simple… The 2005 reprint ISBN number ends with the number 9, and the 2007 reprint ISBN ends with the number 5.

    There is a german Translation of “Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail ’72″
    I own the book in german, it was translated in 2008.
